Oktoberfest in Penang

Hehehe… oktoberfest in penang..siapa percaya…

Tetapi percayalah.. (y)

I went there late, but better late than never because hell, I had loads of fun there!! Smell of wurst, ultimate supplies of biers, Great white tents, merry band playing whole night, adults and kids dancing on the long benches…

Many nice surprise there. Including 2 Britons that are from SHEFFIELD and hangs out at EMBRACE. The world is just too small. I was very excited talking bout it with them. Reminiscing good old time, Yes keneft? :D

Drink Drink Drink Hey Ho~ Saw brother’s friend there and greeted me with

HEY! YOU ARE POPPY SISTER! You really comes from a drinking family~!!! !! !! !!

The fact was further strengthen with the appearance of my super aunt on stage. Holding up 4 huge heavy mugs long enough to win something..Woohoo~ Lee Family the coolest :D

With no surprise here, mother nature punished me with the biggest “I told you so” by placing a little man inside my head hammering the whole Sunday away. -.-| -.-|

No stopping me or slowing here mate, see you drinking buddies there again next year~!!

Revamp post on Singfest ’08

The previous post was wiped out when my host was hacked several months ago T_T Imma gonna rewrite bout Bangkok as well, no doubt, not that i even finish writing bout it previously..teehee..

It was also the first time I’m in Singapore beside transiting in Changi before. It has been months of planning to go watch Jason Mraz in action together with Wanster and Sewjin. We are so happy that we made this decision as it’s just so so god damn worth everything!!

The festival officially opens it great huge fort door at 3PM but we were there since 10ish in the morning. Sweating and sitting patiently in line together with many many other people. Remember we are in singapore?? :p

It’s a hectic work day for me. Must be because of the nasty dream I had last night. The feeling is just like sleepwalking. You slept through the whole night yet waking up tired.

That aside, I’m stealing alil bit of time from work to blog about Desmond’s birthday which just passed not long ago. Last Tuesday to be exact. I miss out last year bash because I was, i think London. But the amazing two-0ne still remain fresh~

It was spontaneous which is rare among us. Church St cafe it is!

Rare photo. Since Teong is based in KL and Pling rarely come out nowadays. :p

Penang World Music Festival 2008

Out of the 3 days the festival was held, i only managed to attend the last day which is on Sunday. Tickets of RM50 was abit expensive to me however after attending the festival for less than an hour, I already regret the decision of not going for Friday and Saturday and made decision to attend the one held next year.

It was awesome!

At first i thought it would rain since it did earlier on Sunday, but i was persistent on going, rain or shine. Fearing the worse from the weather and the crowd, we went early equip with umbrella and newspapers(to sit on). I was very impressed by how organized the whole event was. They have vans shuttling people from youth park to botanical garden, to prevent jam at the 2 lane road. Kudos on that!
The stage was impressive as well as the sound systems and lighting.
Our dinner from the stalls.

The first performer of the night, Techung from Tibet but born in India, raised in America. It’s a very mountain-ny kind of genre. It’s something really different. Just look at the natural backdrop that sheer curtains and lightning can create.

The next one, which is also my favorite act of the night. Balfa Tuojours from USA but sings in french.
They have a fiddler and accordion as well. Very country kinda music and super lively. I Likey! They had the crowd all hype up and dancing. I was clapping along their whole performance : ))

Next up is LO COR DE LA PLANA from France. The group that sang about LOVE, which they pronounced as LOAF. They are good. Acapella groups and percussionists. The last song they performed was actually a Christmas song. Yea, they wished Merry Christmas to us in May -__- however, it sound more like a war song to us. HAAHAAHAHA

The quirky and the weirdest of all,
AFENGINN from Denmark. They had a member that’s dressed in pink with long dreadlocks. What would you think?
Anyway, the music they played was very interesting as they infused the “circus tune” into their fast tempo songs, with the dreadlock guy playing a banjo. Most of their songs are fast beat and dreadlock man was head banging throughout the whole performances.

They also made us do an action which is shouting “Ooompah!!!!” while pumping ur fist into the air. Which reminds me of ommpa lompa marching =___=

Final performance of the night was Kenge Kenge from Kenya. Oh my, they can all shake their booty real fine..ahahah… better than beyonce in her “uh oh uh oh” video. Watch the video below.

The finale where most of the performers from all 3 days came out for the final ovation from the crowd.

In a nut shell, the venue was brilliant, cooling with all the trees around us, the performers was awesome, the crowd was great, people smiling and enjoying moments of it, no matter young or old. With a great company, you will never go wrong in such rare event.

See you there, 2009.

Adrian’s 21st Birthday

Last Saturday i went to my cousin’s birthday at Sri Sayang. It had been years since i’ve been to an apartment party/stay. Actually it had been ages i attended any family members birthday.

The 2 bed -apartment practically exploded with people coming in non stop with his friends. Full blown social butterfly he is. His friends are so diversify..haha…

Saya Kalah.

Part of the drinks. Some i haven’t even heard of wth….Kids nowadays. Saya Kalah sekali lagi.

Him and his “Sau Pau”. Because no one bought him any cake. He had 4 cakes last year instead hahaha.

Family reunion. Tinky with Adrian

Me and adrian. Happy Birthday again!

My fisherman brother, Poppy

I think all my family members are giant breed, me included. All also “thick” and tall ;P
Poppy and Tinky..HAHAHA such a funny nickname combination.

Finally the two boys of the family. Two wacky dudes…that always team up and bully me when we were little.

Still remember once..during a family BBQ, i wanted to have the last satay but then this Adrian said very loudly while wacking my hand “ CANOT EAT, LET POPPY EAT!! T______T

Anways, me and ting left pretty early to join the usual gang at gurney drive. What a refreshing change from the usual mamaks and pubs. Real nice to see the Foobak back from Manipal. Another future doctor hahaha…

Thank you ting for layaning me whole night and also driving most of the time. HAHAHAH
Gotta run…for Water Horse
