My very first marathon. Or in any case, any competitive sports event that I’ve joined.
No one can actually believe I even signed up for the Penang Bridge International Marathon in the first place, more over show up on the real day. Not even my own parents -_______- My dad was telling my mom, i will definitely be on the sweeper bus. So much for confidence in your child -__-
In the spur of the moment, I decided to challenged myself for this year marathon which is also the last one on the old bridge. Prior to this, physically I’m pretty useless. Not that I’m superb now, but slightly better. I bought my first sport shoes in > 4 years. That’s simply points out how “active” I was.
The first time I tried to run on a treadmill back in July, I couldn’t even make it pass the 2km mark in over 30mins. I got down from the machine, dazed and almost collapsed. -__-
Then slowly I picked up pace and prefer to run in the gardens. Even so, due to busy schedules, I only manage to run at least once a week, the most twice. Even that wasn’t consistent at all. I didn’t make it to the 10km mark prior to yesterday. Only 7km @ 1.20+hours.. So I really thought I’m a goner. Really one of those on sweeper bus, but at least I tried !
The DAY finally arrived and physically and mentally unprepared, here I go! Nervous as hell. Wondering what the hell did I got myself into. Why why why?!?
With my best friend ! 🙂 Still ok, not shitfaced hahaha!
Then when everyone start running, I was running alone with my blackberry. Had to snap a photo of me on the Penang Bridge. Kinda shit faced already. sweaty messy and all
I made it passed the finishing mark at 1:36mins . I missed the qualifying time by 6mins and I know it’s not really the best timing but it’s alright. I’m already very proud and overjoyed with myself for achieving this!! I’m so happy I survived, and didn’t need any first aid help too! There’s few moments, I’m already at the verge of giving up, just sit on the pavement and walk slowly, but now am so glad I did not give up!
I look so shitty in this photo but its alright!! haha 😀
Speng here did a better job!! 1.20hrs with no training! Always believed in her that she’ll do good!! Thanks for obliging to join after my pestering ! :p
proof that i completed the run on the bridge. print screen, screen shot it and keep forever!!
This medal made all the “torture” worth it! I’m so happy I signed up, went and actually made it!! Also proving people wrong ahahhaha !!!! I’M SO HAPPY !!
The miracle isn’t that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start – John Bingham
