Bali Day 3

Finally continuing my Bali journey day 3 :shy:   :shy:  Procrastinator for life yo. Final day in Ubud and it’s time to venture deeper into the northern side of Bali before ending our day at Febris Hotel and Spa Kuta. I’m trying out this new plugin where the photos are group toget

#1 Tegallalang Rice Terrace – this was really a touch and go stop as it was drizzling all the time. For me, I’ve seen these sort of plantation few times along the highway JKT-Bandung.

#2 Very persistent sales girl… 1dollar..1dollar..postcard..1dollar…cheeseee

# 3 The Mother Temple of Besakih which is magnificent. So many pagoda

#4 some corn and coconut snack that Gisele bought. Yummy!

#5 Babi Guling at the ever famous Ibu Oka. The original one sold out by the time we were there so we had the crispy skin instead which was delicious. I would love to have it again. *look past my shoulder and you’ll see interesting souvenirs”

#6 Absolutely one of my tourist spot by far in Bali, Uluwatu. I think the view here are breathtaking.

#7 Uluwatu and spoiled, fat monkeys comes hand in hand.

#8 The monkeys are damn naughty and cheeky too! They’ll stalk and steal/snatch anything possible from you in exchange for a snack.

We witnessed a stubborn Japanese handphone been thrown around like a rag doll. Haha!

#9 Indulged in a little touristy activity. Kecak kecak kecak kecak dance. Watching the tradition against the cliff and the temple as a background. Couldn’t be better

#10 Our rooms at Febris’s for around RM200 with very yummy american breakfast. We purposely wake up to whack the breakfast and goes back to sleep…

#11 Mr Rai, Best guide in Bali. He speaks fluent English and German, very knowledgeable and friendly! Reasonably rates and he doesnt charge extra when we pass the 8hours mark. Since he’s a member of the photography club in bali, obviously he can bring you to the best spot to take photos and help take good photos for memories!  I remember the times when I’m in europe where friendly old gentlemen will offer to take “masterpiece/magnificent/perfecto” photos and turns out to be super blur =__=||

My friends and me strongly recommend him to anyone! You can book him at http://balipersonaltour.com/

The next 2 days in Bali are spend in Kuta filled with excitement on the streets and tales to be told for a long time..

Ubud Day 2

Such a long absent! So busy till my health took a toll on me :( Being out for 3 days last weekend and slept more than 20+ hours .. such bliss in a way

some of the pics we took on our bali day 2 which was spend sight seeing.

Random local kids :)

I would say Pura Taman Ayun can skip if you lack of time. Entrance fee required.

After about an hour drive or so, we reach Bedugul area further up north of the Bali Island. Lake Bratan was very nice! Should visit and the weather so cooling like Cameron highlands.

Had a lunch at a non-tourist place – Ayam Bakar Taliwang. As we wanted to try something new, we got our Super nice guide to bring us to a place HE would go himself. Superbly recommended. One of the cheapest and satisfied meal we had in Bali. The restaurant is just opposite the carpark of Lake Bratan. Walking distance.

We headed towards Tanah Lot after that. No sunset for us again :(( It was a cloudy day. They have a market there and the price are cheap.

Tips: Get your souvenirs or Bali Bintang t-shirt here.Me and Gisele got a tube dress for RM7 each! The bintang shirt are like RM3 each here too. Kuta shops are pirates!

It was a very nice stroll around the market before heading towards the super crowded Tanah Lot temple or the floating temple.  The temple is behind us and the scenery from here was amazing. Locals was surfing as well!  Thanks to our superb guide for bringing us. Too bad it was a very cloudy day and all photos doesnt turn out really well :(

Oh well, I’m sure I’ll be there again someday..

Infront of the temple already. If you notice, there’s people braving the waves to get over to the temple and had the holy mens blessings. At that time, the tide wasn’t really that high. Probably a little above ankle.

By the time we decided to go over, the water level rises way above our knee and it was a very scary experience actually. See the sexy legs behind me :)

I was being the scaredy cat and rushed to go over to the safe side as soon as possible. Not wanting to risk getting soaking wet. The tide was really scary and all of us were soaking wet by the time we wade back. Hence buying pants/dress on the spot -_-

It was almost waist high and the wave was so strong, I had to hold on to the temple helpers in order not to be swept away by the waves!

Leaving you with a photo of the temple and the temple helpers who had to swim back.

Naughty Nuri’s Heavenly Ribs

Still stuck in my Day 1 of Bali -_-  Everytime I want to blog about this, i got hungry and it got deferred..

But this could be one of my top 3 good enough reason for me to return to Bali over and over again until I get sick of it (never!! )

As we had our spa session before this, we practically had to rush like to mad to get to this small shack before it closes at 10pm. It was a little out of town and we did not expect it to be this far. It was an adventure, riding under a crazy drizzle just relying on a gps device, not to mentioned the road was creepy with much giant trees. Hey, it looks creepy at night with little or no street lamps -_-

At 930pm, we finally got there, so relief that it’s still open and taking orders. Famished, we ordered each a platter of ribs and some sate to go. Not very logical decision which we came to regret later on. Here’s the menu, just 1 for everyone to see and share. No need to wait for it :D

The whole place smells sweet from the ribs grilling outside the small shack.

A staple for every meal. CHEAP !! IDR22k / RM7 per mug.

After a short wait, the sate was first served followed by the plates of ribs plonked onto the long wooden table. Wasting no time, we squirt lemon on it and dug in. Definitely worth all the rushing to get to this place. It was so yummy!! Full of flavour especially when you dip into the Indonesia magical sauce, Kicap ABC.

Ribs IDR75k / RM 25

The ribs are so soft and tender, it was easy enough for me to polish the entire platter all by myself ^_^ I really do love it! On top of that, we ordered Chicken, Pork and Beef Satay which we can’t finish at all. The sate here are different from Malaysia as they come in huge chunk of meat and rice.

Satays are IDR35K but beef are IDR 135k/ RM 45 !!

The beef satay was so expensive! making this the most expensive meal we had in our entire trip. What more, it’s not so delicious :(

The next time I would just stick to bintang beer and my ribs. Yes, I would still order 1 plate all for myself and I miss it so much now!!

Total meal IDR908K / RM310

Café Wayan @ Monkey Forest

We had our first very late lunch here. Recommend by my colleague as one of the best local place to try local food in a very nice settings. We were super impressed and took photo like jakuns. hoho!

To get around town, we rented bikes instead of walking around. I love to ride bikes around during holiday. I find it the most economical and easiest way to see things and get around. Our bikes are less than RM10 each from 3pm to 11pm ( more than half day)

Tips: Negotiate to death for everything!!!

Inside of the place. Impressive or not ~~

Most of the tables are place far from each other. Plenty of space and privacy.

Surrounded by greeneries, it’s no surprise that it’s very relaxing and GREEN while waiting for our food. How often are we surrounded by GREEN during our meals in cities!

Four Season Pizza – IDR 66K /RM23. So So but generous toppings.

Nasi Campur = IDR 94K/RM32 Quite pricey for a fried rice and I think most of us are not used to eating empek empek.

Nasi Mixed Satay = IDR 67K/RM23. This is the best satay ever. It is so tasty and meaty. Must try!!

Waiting for desserts

We read that the Black Rice Pudding (IDR 21K/RM7 ) is yummy but turns out it is just like our “Bee Kor Moi” -_- and ours are way better. But the chocolate cake may look normal. It is anything but normal because it is THE Death By Chocolate cake IDR 32K/RM11)

The cake is just pure evil !!! Ridiculously rich can die. Yummy….!!

After the meal, we zoom around the area before heading back to hotel to wait for our pick up for our heavenly Spa session :)

Grand Total for the meal: IDR 537K /RM184

Bali Day 1 – Ubud

We bought the tickets way back in February and had to wait out for so many months!!

The wait was horrible T__T

Our first accommodation is at Saren Indah @ Ubud. The place was book 3 months prior to our arrival dates and mind you, we went during the low months. We were considered lucky to get this place as its rated quite highly on tripadvisor although my first few choices were already full -_-

Tips: book your accommodation well ahead as the hotels in Bali tend to operate in a very small scale. Good things are grabbed fast.

It nicely located within walking distance to the Monkey Forest. It took us more than an hour to reach the hotel from the airport as due to the heavy traffic. We were famished by the time we checked in

The guys enjoying the Cinnamon Drink. Very refreshing.

The whole place was very green and serene. It actually overlooks a paddy field but you see paddy field everywhere in Ubud. I recommended you to take the Garden View room as it’s cheaper and you don’t need to climb up the stairs to get to your room.

Our very nicely made up room with personalize welcome letter and complimentary fruits platter which was left uneaten -_-

The very nice pool which we always see non-asians dipping in. Unfortunately, we spend most of the time away from the pool and dint have the time to fully utilize it.

The breakfast which was provided are fairly simple and very healthy. On the buffet, the normal bread and some fruits. The others you have to order off the menu. I feel like I’m in rehab or something during breakfast. They do offer eggs and bacon :)

I would recommend this hotel as it’s very clean, extremely friendly staff which gave us directions and such. So it’s value worth *thumbs up!* Also, they do provide shuttle service to Ubud town which is not very far away.

Our rooms are at USD40 nett per night.

After checking in, we had a fantastic lunch at Cafe Wayan which I will blog about next.

However, I’ll recommend this spa that we went to.What is a trip to Ubud without experiencing the Spa.

Sang Spa.

One of the best spa I’ve ever experiences. I love it! I love it more than Thai massage as it’s so relaxing!   As we were short of time, which is such a pity, most of us went for the Holistic Combination Massage ( 1 H 30 M ) Rp 180.000,- (US$ 20)

Must TRY! You will not regret it. It’s the whole experience, masseuse skill and ambiance that made it perfect

Remember to book in advance and they provide free shuttle around Ubud area. We went to the new branch as we read that the one near monkey forest is very noisy.
