Soul Kitchen, Muntri Street
Hey, hey, hey
Hey soul sister, ain’t that Mr. Mister on the radio, stereo, the way you move ain’t fair, you know!
Hey soul sister, I don’t want to miss a single thing you do…tonight
Few weekends ago, on a nice sunny Saturday afternoon, me and Mr.Smallface decided to try out this new place which I’ve read about while blog hopping.
sOul Kitchen at the end of muntri street, nearing Cititel Hotel Penang Road.
I don’t think it’s hard to find as the place is to colorful to miss
For this post, i tried to edit all of the photos so less words maybe? haha~ Don’t think it’s any nicer hmm.. The food pictures are unedited, just added in the frame and caption. Raw from LX3, rooarr
I ♥ this kind of small cafe.
Menus on the wall for all to see. No angry customer waiting for menus.
I bet Kimmie and Raye will love it too~! Yogurt Muesli served here for Kim!
Banana Orange Smoothie and Iced Cafe Latte, RM7 each. Size: ikea glass hahaha.. The place is filled with the nice aroma from the coffee machine that’s placed next to the counter.
They have the “open kitchen” concept here. No curtain or whatnots to block our view from watching chefs at work.
I had the Grilled Sandwich with Gammon Ham and sweet onion sauce. Very generous fillings and cheeseee! ♥ ♥ ♥
MrSmallFace’s Pasta which is the most expensive of the lot, RM19. Yet this dish would be highly recommended by me! Chickens bites are tender, pasta al dente, diced tomatoes with a zing of lemon taste overall. YUMS!
Salami Pizza to share, RM10. This is so-so. Had better.
To top off all the above which has been polished clean from the plates, we ordered the tiramisu cake, Rm10, which I read about as well.
True, it does not disappoint! For the soft type of Tiramisu, I think Ritz Bakery finally had a rival in Penang for the top placing.
Soul Kitchen; no harm giving it a try when you want to break the Penang Food Chain norm..
As for myself, I will be back for its Penne Pasta and definitely the tiramisu!
To end this post, I’ll just share a recent photo of myself
This is the first and might very well be the last image you will see me with contact lenses. I’m so vain at times. Haiz.. -__-
I must be one of those few people that the opticians would had love to slap if they have the authority to do so
Thank you aunties at Chan Kong Chan for your 1+ hr patience with me. I can’t help but blink :( I still fail at wearing the lenses ever since ……
Bella Italia @ Pulau Tikus
Last Friday, Mrsmallface decided to treat me to a nice dinner in Penang!
Since the boy never been to Bella Italia before, arguable one of the longest standing and good Italian eateries in Penang, we went there.
I guess one can’t get very creative with German nor Italiano food. It’s meat or carbs. -_-
Ordered the Bella Italia Special pizza with ham and all that, plus a carbonara to share.
Okay, I think I look very weird here. Short arms and big head. Abit like the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland no? Hahahha!

Mrsmallface and his vanilla milkshake!
Verdict: The ingredients used are fresh. The waiter said that they are famous for seafood stuff and it’s true. Also, we notice many ordered the Tiramisu but we are too stuffed to even drink plain water.
Overall, in terms of Italian in Penang, we totally feels that Ecco Cafe is FTW!!
Ecco Café @ Chulia Steet
Last friday, its was a girls night out. Supposed to be a girls night out but we have an unexpected guest. Pleasant one, so it’s alright.
We decided on this place after browsing through some other food blogs. Ecco cafe is a quaint little cafe snugly tucked in Chulia Street which is full of similar cafes and backpackers inn. Open its door for 3 years already and here am I with the rest to try it out, 3 years later
The barrel thingie is pepper grinder! SO CUTE
No regrets, braving through the crazy wind and rain, for the meal which are fabulous from start to end. The thick pumpkin soup with lil pumpkin bear peaking.
Amazingly creamy pasta No.7, named so because I forgot the name, only the number on the menu -.- So creamy, yet not so creamy. Just right amount. Of course it will be much better for me without the peas ><
Lorenzo, turkey ham and olives.
All their pasta thickness are just right maybe because it’s all handmade and cooked al dente. Expect all dishes to be laden with plenty of ingredients and oh, OLIVES (y) (y) Damn yummy! Be it white or red sauce, it was cook from scratch for every dish so expect to wait for a lil while but this glutton here don’t mind a bit!
They also have the pizza-fold-over-thingie that i just saw in Venice~ It was certainly delish as well! But so sorry, was busy eating to properly take anymore decent photos. Remember, we have to wait for food and any waiting for food on friday night will create a monster!
The above female has very high sensitivity towards camera lens.
The group that went, with best photographer ever, Mr.Timer
And then~~ we proceed for some SNOW BEER!! but that will be a story for another day
The price are okay, the range between RM12-17 but for me it was well worth it for what you get compared to many places nowadays.
Next up, Bulgarian food..yyumm
