Tomyam Porridge – Raja Uda
Week 32 – I’ve heard of this infamous tomyam porridge place in Raja Uda, Butterworth for the longest time.
So, 1 fine weekend after paying respect to the biggest King of Hades in BM, we went over to check this place out.
It’s already packed with people when we reached around 7pm. No table available and most table are with drinks only.
Waiting.
and patience is what you must have if you intend to take up the “challenge” of this place.
How this place works is that, you take a small plate at the side, choose whatever ingredient that you may fancy and pass it over to the worker and they will tag your plate accordingly. They have beehoon, maggie noodle and porridge with clear soup base or tomyam soup base.

and the wait begins. The first time i was there, i waited for about 1.5 hours to be served.
the 2nd and 3rd time was around 45minutes. So do not expect any fast food there.
If you are too free, you can slowly trace where had your platter advance from time to time
Finally, food!! I had the tomyam maggie noodle as i wasnt a fan of porridge. It’s more towards the sour side
The ever famous tomyam porridge! It’s really yummy no doubt!
Is it worth the wait ? Maybe not. But when you go with a bunch of friends, you can just idle there or chit chat while waiting. I’m sure no problem there.
Be sure to get the awesome fried fish and extra egg to go with your mains.
Close on Tuesday, open from 7pm till way past midnight. No signboard, but it’s along Jalan Raja Uda, just right after Kwang Hwa School.

Heritage Walkabout and a Hen’s Party
Maybe I should do photo of the hour style. A roundup of week 24 weekend To arrange to have 18 pax turning up for morning session and another different group of 14 pax is not an easy feat. Kudos to partner in crime LadyCow.
1030AM – Meet up for breakfast at Toh Soon Cafe which in reality means 1130AM to the boys. 3 tables and many more standing around.

12pm – proceed to the heart of Georgetown UNESCO heritage site

Interjunction of Muntri Street, Love Lane and Stewart Lane

Walkabout prewar houses with limestone wall

Behind Kuan Yin Temple

All the way back to muntri street, stopping at Moontree47 for the much needed WATER and rest from all the walking under the mid-day sun!

Mr Ciwawa the main photographer of the day. couldn’t thank him enough for his kind voluntary work

Hi Diana, it has been awhile since you have seen the sun. I’m sorry for neglecting you and I hope you are happy with the additional gadgets. Please be happy and produce a good roll from the weekend ^^

Destination change, vroom all the way to Straits Quay.

Oh well, typical day out. Lovebirds dating, girls chatting, guys gambling and daylight robbery. All in a day.

A compilation of the photos before we disperse at 4pm to go home, freshen up, sleep and overslept, and most importantly dolling up for the hen’s night. Obviously the stag night for the guys which was wayyyyyy boring, haha!!

Dinner at SixtyNine Mansion – was horrible as service was really bad and most of the food are cold when served. Dessert served with ice cream already melted. Disappointing. No doubt its a very nice restaurant but I do not think I will return for the 2nd time.

The Hen’s Entourage for the night

We were quite pissed with the service over at 69 that we went all the way down to UPR for 2nd half of the night. CLing was required to wear the tiara and veil the entire time although she cheated most of the time -_______-

Worried whats in-store for her.

Basically we had prepared several challenges for her to overcome and with each one successfully done, we will record it down in the scrapbook we had prior prepared.

It’s obvious we all had a fantastic night out and mission accomplished in creating a memorable and naughty final night as a single lady.
It was a very happening June and a great way to end the first half of the year. As we enter the 2nd half of 2011, I’m going off on holiday tomorrow (yay!) and with all the uncertainty behind me, i hope the rest of the year would be a blasting good one

Let’s continue the journey of searching for yummy tiramisu and quaint little hide out in Penang
Photos are all from Raye’s camera which is my dream camera – olympus p-1.. I want……
Er, but this place I suppose is not really considered a hideout anymore as it is quite well-known among the local. My friends, family and I had been here few times before as i love the place and coffee! Latte ♥
What I love the most is that they allows the patrons to draw nonsenses on their table! Like this! ha ha!

Our view for the entire afternoon while chatting. P-1 camera so nais, can cry…

I was there actually to catch up with my dear ex-colleagues from penang company.
The long awaited photo of the crunchy yummy Kahlua- Tiramisu. The cakes and dessert are between RM16-18++ which is expensive if you rate is base on Penang standard. However, I don’t think the restaurants target market are locals. This is the place where most tourist would stroll by instead of locals who shy aways from the sun like vampires.

Crushed Lime and Mint Soda, RM10. Healthy Kimmie’s drink. I don’t know the taste, dont dare to try. Too green for carnivorous me

I had the Strawberry, Banana & Orange Fresh Frappe, Rm14. Very suitable choice for a hot afternoon.
A photo of us again, since December. 8 months it took to schedule a meet up.

Went there again 2 weekends ago with TeongLi and MrSmallFace for them to try the cake. The following photos by BB and lx3.
Certified by Teongli. Complete with shiny, starry eyes.. hahaha ..stupid..
A mahjong paper, a glass of Buncho crayons and boys missing their childhood = unleash their drawing skills.

Have a good week people

Soul Kitchen, Muntri Street
Hey, hey, hey
Hey soul sister, ain’t that Mr. Mister on the radio, stereo, the way you move ain’t fair, you know!
Hey soul sister, I don’t want to miss a single thing you do…tonight
Few weekends ago, on a nice sunny Saturday afternoon, me and Mr.Smallface decided to try out this new place which I’ve read about while blog hopping.
sOul Kitchen at the end of muntri street, nearing Cititel Hotel Penang Road.
I don’t think it’s hard to find as the place is to colorful to miss
For this post, i tried to edit all of the photos so less words maybe? haha~ Don’t think it’s any nicer hmm.. The food pictures are unedited, just added in the frame and caption. Raw from LX3, rooarr
I ♥ this kind of small cafe.
Menus on the wall for all to see. No angry customer waiting for menus.
I bet Kimmie and Raye will love it too~! Yogurt Muesli served here for Kim!
Banana Orange Smoothie and Iced Cafe Latte, RM7 each. Size: ikea glass hahaha.. The place is filled with the nice aroma from the coffee machine that’s placed next to the counter.
They have the “open kitchen” concept here. No curtain or whatnots to block our view from watching chefs at work.
I had the Grilled Sandwich with Gammon Ham and sweet onion sauce. Very generous fillings and cheeseee! ♥ ♥ ♥
MrSmallFace’s Pasta which is the most expensive of the lot, RM19. Yet this dish would be highly recommended by me! Chickens bites are tender, pasta al dente, diced tomatoes with a zing of lemon taste overall. YUMS!
Salami Pizza to share, RM10. This is so-so. Had better.
To top off all the above which has been polished clean from the plates, we ordered the tiramisu cake, Rm10, which I read about as well.
True, it does not disappoint! For the soft type of Tiramisu, I think Ritz Bakery finally had a rival in Penang for the top placing.
Soul Kitchen; no harm giving it a try when you want to break the Penang Food Chain norm..
As for myself, I will be back for its Penne Pasta and definitely the tiramisu!
To end this post, I’ll just share a recent photo of myself
This is the first and might very well be the last image you will see me with contact lenses. I’m so vain at times. Haiz.. -__-
I must be one of those few people that the opticians would had love to slap if they have the authority to do so
Thank you aunties at Chan Kong Chan for your 1+ hr patience with me. I can’t help but blink :( I still fail at wearing the lenses ever since ……
Vino @ Pulau Tikus
Suppose to visit the hottest watering hole in penang but due to super heavy rain that night, we made a detour to a small wine shop. Which has a small wine bar right next to it, filled with strong delicious cheese smell.
A place called The Wine Shop, just the road sandwich between Pulau Tikus Bee Cheng Hiang and old Shakeys
Loving the place

I know that we will revisit the place again in the future.
Another fun night with the brady bunch

Our only group photo of the night. Hahaha.. The guy in the middle is still single/maybe..
