Oktoberfests ’09
‘Twas a great and fun weekend back in Penang last weekend.
It was a well planned event! We bought the tickets when we knew the dates. Lucky for us as the ticket was sold out!! Alot of people went anyway without any tickets and left disappointed (i guess!! )
I can’t recall needing any tickets last year though. I do remember that the crowd was twice the size! Good for Penang! Bunch of jolly good people. Saw so many of the usual face there, the people who you usually see when there’s some event happening.
Me and raye even saw our ex Financial Director!! The good looking Jon C. hahahaha
It was also a long awaited, off schedule hen party/post birthday party for our Autumn Girl!

Apple4today, New Bride and LadyCow

LadyCow was saying boom boom POWWWWWW! (or something like that ) hahahha
No idea why all of them are balling their first -__-

LadyCow dont give a damn. Drinking away. Where is your sensitivity to the lens girl?
Desmond finally joined us very late into the night and just for awhile. While looking for last year post, i saw his comment to “count me in” this year! hahahah

It was a great night. Truly believe everyone had a fantastic time too. Let’s book ourselves for another round next year!!

And I believe it had been a long long time since I blog almost immediately about something. hmm.. keep it up! *pat self on back*

Kapitan @ Chulia Street
Thaipusam just passed. I idiotically drove on on the height of the celebration with the motive of trying to sell off some of my old books at some indian store. Hence, I was stuck in the insane jam for an hour…without getting anything done(the shop are closed) fearing that the coconut will get thrown at my direction and worse part, hungry!!
In conjunction with the celebration earlier on last 2 weeks, Mr.SmallFace, BrotherPoh and Me decided to have tandoori for dinner. Obviously, we headed off to the best tandoori place in town which is Kapitan Restaurant. I’ve tried several Kapitan branches but i still feel that the one at Chulia Street is the best. DivaLisa brought me there long long time ago when they were still operating in a small modest shop behind the bus stop.
I noticed a small stall on the roadside next to the shop. BrotherPoh explains that they have very nice cow milks. Like very fresh. So i decided to go take a look at what the guy was stirring in a wok… It looks like he’s mixing some potion. It was actually just Badam Milk (Almond Milk). Pure cow milk that is boiled with grinded almond, cashew nuts and raisins.
Being the greedy girl i am, i ordered the milk although i already ordered Teh Ais. hahaha. Nothing to fear as i have with me 2 bottomless pitt
It was abit sweet but definitely fresh. I would have another one any given time. but it’s kinda filling too..
Me, gleefully awaiting my meal!!
Then i couldn’t sit still and went over to see how they make my naan. Making sure no funny business in the kitchen..Hahaha..Good/bad thing they adopt the open kitchen concept yes ?The anneh handles the hot “pot” and skewer with great skill.
Meal: Tandoori with garlic cheese naan. At the side, some mintsauce, sweet sauce and curry. Very delicious.
Overall, the price is kinda steep(total bill >RM30) but it’s ok since we dont go there every day. Just once awhile to curb my craving
But then again, what is cheap nowadays?! Even the takotao in Jusco is $4.50 for 3 flour balls..
Well recommended.
Other amazing food along Chulia
Ecco Café @ Chulia Steet
WanTanMee/Hawker @ night
My CnY in photos!
Blog abandon for Twilight novel. The movie is seriously pale in comparison to the book!!
Being reading it in softcopy because i’m poor like that. Whats with the economy out there, better save up.. :S
The above 2 lines were written last night when it was interrupted with the reading of New Moon..and it’s 12AM a day after that..still reading New Moon..crying alone in my room to the story. Can you believe it =.=..
Gosh im lame..anyway..back to my CNY.
The LEE Family Time!!
My family is a very globalize one but we do have much thing in common. Rowdy, loud and party animals..the last one is history for some but i believe the traits is just buried as people expect you to behave your age..or not..hahaha
DivaLisa, BrotherPoh, AdrianGentleGiant, Raymond, BigJeff and JasonBurhan at ChurchSt.

Ting with me
Being so long since the I saw the smart one in the family as she’s being “dispatch” to Sabah..hahaha This girl fooled me with the rest of the family (including her own parents) saying she wont be back this CNY but it’s a surprise. When I was tricked into the room with her hiding in the corner, we were both laughing silently while in tears for the longest of time on 1st day of CNY

Obviously, being bullied

With Big Jeff and JasonBurhan, with Cousin Ting2 in SS. Going clubbing with the family feels so safe..It’s like having bouncers together with you everywhere you go considering the family member size..We are all well above 170cm. But there’s exception to everything..hahahahhaahah

The Yue Sang..I had it 4 times this year!! Usually i have zero times.Homemade somemore..obvisouly not by me. MrSmallFace supergranny recipe

Silly photos taken with Ting2 waterproof camera. BrotherPoh wearing his sunnies underwater..Video them fighting underwater…Haiz..why my family like that…:p

Behaving like tourist at the tourist belt with mom and auntiesss..

We walked all the way from RasaSayang to Sunset.. and bored people think of creative ways to entertain themselves..Hence the below…LEE Family!!

and many more.. Plus a few group shots

On the other hand..CNY should be spend with friends as well
Dearies at Redbox.. I miss the times already. LadyCow faster come back la..so we can shout our lungs out again

Chinese new year activity going on at moi’s house featuring MrSmallFace. I just knew people dont serve Winter Melon drinks during CNY because in Cantonese it sounds like “Tong Ko Shui” = in deep shit ..bad omen when we are ushering all the luck we can..hahaha

and at LeeKen’s place, the annual gathering on 3rd day. Wont miss it for anything… with Teongz. the point of the photos is to remind myself of wearing auspicious color on specific day. hohoho.. ONG!! ONG!!

The birthday cakes for January babies.. Ultimate photos of cake smashing! hohohohoho

To close this year episode on CNY, of course the annual photos with dearies
Love you girls to bits! Till we gather again! muaks muaks

Penang Truly has it all
Take some time and watch this clip. It summarizes the amazing Penang!
I LOVE PENANG!!
I am so proud to be penangite and share it with the world! Not only that, New York Times has nominated Penang as one of the 44 Destinations in the world to visit for 2009.
Based on New York Times own recommendation, Penang is currently ranked at 22nd.
This is open for the world population to vote their recommendation!
Let’s do our small part to create visibility for Penang and cast your votes at http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/01/11/travel/20090111_DESTINATIONS.html
Please help to spread the words around!
Blue Reef – Casa Permai
After much delay, I finally made a trip to Casa Permai which is the new housing area near TAR college in Penang to try out Christopher new fish & chip shop. Although we know the owner, the review will not be bias and we paid for the food as well..erhmm..
The deco is simple and can fits quite a handful of people. Since we have like 3 people only, we tried different stuff on the menu. They currently have a small range since they just started and i believe they want to focus on what they do best and deliver quality instead of quantity menu to us.
They don’t batch fry their food so please be patient and enjoy a chat with your fellow diners. In my case, DivaLisa prefers to reply her emails =.=
This is my order for the night, the signature Fish & Chips. I think I am allowed to make comment here as I tried the said #2 fish & chips from UK right?
You can either have it battered or crumbed. Mine is crumbed and it’s delicious. It’s definitely not like those paperthin fish and chip that you usually find in Malaysia. You can actually SEE pieces of fish beneath the crumbs and the portion is reasonable for the price you pay. Hmmm, and the things that reminds me of UK chips are the vinegar! How can you walk into any F & C shops in UK and not find a bottle of vinegar sitting on the counter top? Of course, I had my fries with plenty of salt and vinegar like i used too. Fuck the fats. For a long time, I really enjoy my fish & chips..
Yummy
DivaLisa chicken cordon bleu with cheese flowing out once she sliced it up. I didn’t try any of it as I’m too indulged in my own food. HA! But according to her, it’s good. You gotta believe her cos she’s a Diva in everything. If it’s good enough for her, it definitely would be for you.
MrSmallFace Blue Reef Fish Burger. Where can you find fish burger apart from McD? I took a bite and aih, it’s good too. The burger patties are thick like those you find in American chain restaurant. Even MrSmallFace can’t finish it. Imagine the portion.
Between us, we shared the soup of the day. Carrot and Ginger. Hahah. This is on the house as none of us actually like carrot nor ginger but Christopher made us tried it! It’s was creamy and doesn’t really taste of stupid carrots. It has a hint of spicy taste due to the ginger.
The soup is made fresh daily so remember to ask for the soup of the day when you there. Apart from the usual burger and fish, it also serves Pasta and Salads.
By the way, they have a lovely park just right in front and the Blue Reef is furkids friendly. You can bring your doggies out with you to this place, like finally in Penang yes???
Blue Reef is open from Tuesday – Sunday, 11AM-230PM and i think 6pm – 1030pm. Another special thingie bout this place is you are allowed to BYO wine
That’s B.RING Y.OUR O.WN WINE.
I will recommend this place to the people who really miss REAL fish and chips and people who wants to try the REAL fish and chips. Like how it’s serve in UK, the place it origins.
PS: You can check out CK LAM review on this place too. She had a much detailed one than mine
