scotland

off to the hills..

You learn something everyday.

This week, i learn how to make panaroma photos!! This is my first try and I tried to adjust the photo to create an olden age feeling. Photo taken at Fort William, Scotland – Summer 2007 (best evar!)

Critics, no? Will try to make one from the photos I took in Madrid and Venice, maybe?

This weekend, I’m off to the hills. Not one, but two!! whee!! :))   :))

Made of Honor (& Scotland)

Yesterday was our department team building, so we were treated to a movie, a treasure hunt (which i’ll elaborate in the next post) and a dinner. and YAY! We won 3rd placing for the hunt! Go Gold!!

The movie we choose was well, obviously Made of Honor.

Oh! The movie genre was my favourite. Romantic comedy, a chick flick which i absolutely adore :D

Now, the movie will bring us over to Scotland because Colin is a scottish duke who plays the bagpipe -__-

Anyway, while watching it.. I saw so many places that I’ve been which flushes me away with memories from last summer. If you had watched the movie, you might regconize some of the scenes from my photo.

#1 On the way to Isle of Skye..We drove there, Sheffield/Liverpool > Edinburgh > Isle of skye …in total we drove at least 7hours that day alone. Unlike the movie, we drove all the way there because we were too late to catch the boat. The bridge!! Oh dear…

#2 Can you spot the bridge? Now so small and insignificant in the fuller viewer. Yes, this is how the highland looks like.

The pink haggis mentioned in the movie…We tried it too!! It’s actually quite yummy. Not as disgusting and scary as it is IF you have it nicely…The one we had at the kebab store was kinda horrible though..

#3 The magnificent GlenCoe. This is definitely one of the most scenic place to travel by car. ACS, before u balik penang, please go.

Ahh.. I couldn’t seem to find the castle photo at all!! This will do.. Behind this castle lies Loch Ness Monster…

#4 The lighthouse that Tom had to pass when he was riding the horse around the coast to the small church. Hahaha It’s a totally different location.

Back to the movie. I believe many a times the same situation happens, either you are Tom or Hannah. Just look at how many movies has been made with the same storyline, 27 Dresses or My Best Friend Wedding(my fav!)

Tom might want to be with you NOW, just because he is afraid of losing you but he might be back to his old self once he got you. Colin is the PERFECT guy but with minor flaws and you don’t really know him that well…

Will you choose Tom or Colin then?

Based on such romantic and senseless kinda person that I am, i would definitely choose Tom!! Brownie point for him just coz he is Dr. McDreamy… :)

REMEMBER GUYS! Friends not for a summer or just a spring. I miss the moments :(

Season of the Gold and a hiatus for me maybe?

Summer come and go..Without realizing, autumn is here.

Leaves of gold and red decorate pathway and streets.

Life is just purely breathing without living if there’s no such thing as friends.

Silver Linings….
Edinburgh Castle, sitting majestically at the hilltop.

Chocolate soup. It’s like drinking chocolate fondue. Really yummy though. Je t’aimais

“Kau Yok” at my pre-departure dinner.
Thanks to Teviot Place residents for having me. I shall miss you guys much! Especially the nightly chats and cooking and window shopping. If everything goes as plan, i shall meet up with you guys pretty soon.

I’m on the road again. Hopefully I’ll get to online again or else i might wilt and die…

miss me…..

Miss me much :)

Scotland Final Day.

Last day was at Glasgow. We had a very short day here as we need to hit the motorways by noon or else we wouldn’t make it on time to return the cars. Soo Sad!

This is St.George Square if not mistaken. Very nice and very cold as well.

Our leftover food supply after 4 days. Imagine the amount we brought along before this :)

The steel peacock at Glasgow highstreet. It’s like shopping heaven here..muahaha..that’s before i went to Cheshire Oak.

In the carpark, bidding farewell ady.

The giants and the our small fish. Hahah..

They say he looks like WuChun…

ter we all went back to sheffield.

My coursemates that cooked dinner for us when we reached Sheffield. So nice of them, miss them so much T____________T

Scotland Day 3

As i mentioned, we slept in the car for the 2 night at this place called Lossiemouth near Elgin. Which is very up north on British Island. Our original plan was to wake up and enjoy the sunrise. BUT as usual, all sleep like pig la..hahah.. Anyway, the photos that were taken when sleeping canot be shown to the world. Damn ugly wei..hehe After breakfast (roti and jam), we headed down to Inverness again to walk around and have our lunch! Now, this lunch is quite special because it’s Scottish traditional dish. It’s made of sheep’s intestines and mashed up with potatoes and something else.

Sounds disgusting alright, but surprisingly it tasted real good. With the white sauce, it tasted something like cheese and ham with small bites. Then we headed to Tomatin whiskey distilleries for some whiskey tasting.

Fort William is the next destination, and watching the Jacobite Steam Train was the goal, but we were late by 15minutes or so i think.
To most people, the jacobite steamtrain is Hogwarts Express from Harry Potter movie. To get the best view, we need to hike up a small hill. but it was well worth it. Anyway, the railway tracks is at GlenFinnan and the place was amazingly beautiful!!!

The view from the small hill overlooking some loch and GlenFinnan.
This is our whole road trip group. First Car – Vauxhall Astra, our girls car Piccanto and the oil-drinking Vauxhall Meriva. Doing what we always do during the whole journey. Looking at map, use MrTomTom for direction, talking, eating and sleeping.
From there, we continue on our journey to Glasgow for the last night. On the way, we passes the rocky terrains of Scottish higlands. We saw the 5 sisters, Ben Nevis (the highest peak on Britain) and the gorgeous GlenCoe. Contrasting to the beauty and peaceful feeling that it may send out, a huge massacre actually happened there before. Anyway, it was so beautiful just driving passed it makes all 3 cars stop simultaneously without communicating to each other on the roadside just to take photos. hEhe….
To be continued….
